EU digital border system now fully operational after phased rollout
The European Commission says the EU’s new Entry/Exit System became operational on 12 October 2025 and was fully operational at external border crossing points from 10 April 2026. The system applies to non-EU travellers on short stays and replaces manual passport stamping with electronic records.
