KLM announced a 15 percent discount on all transatlantic economy bookings made by June 30 for August 5-31 departures. Fares from New York to Amsterdam begin at 428 dollars roundtrip including taxes. Similar reductions apply from Chicago Los Angeles and Toronto to 12 European cities.
The sale includes free date changes up to 24 hours before departure and one checked bag. Premium economy receives an additional 10 percent reduction bringing New York-Amsterdam roundtrips to 920 dollars. Codeshare flights on Delta Air Lines qualify for the same pricing.
This marks KLM's largest summer promotion since 2023 when fuel prices drove higher base fares. August typically sees 12 percent lower demand than July allowing the carrier to fill remaining seats.
Competitor Air France matched the discount within hours on its Paris routes. Analysts expect the sale to generate 180000 incremental bookings across the alliance network.
What this means for you
Book immediately via KLM.com or the Flying Blue app selecting flexible dates in mid-August for maximum savings. Use points to upgrade to premium economy for an additional 150 dollars each way.
Avoid peak Friday and Sunday flights which sell out fastest during the promotion. Combine with a free stopover in Amsterdam to extend your European itinerary without extra airfare.
Expect similar sales from other Star Alliance carriers in early July for September travel.
