Norwegian Air announced the fare reduction on June 24 offering one-way economy tickets from Oslo to New York for 189 euros and from Copenhagen to Los Angeles for 229 euros. The sale applies to travel between July 15 and September 30 on 280 selected flights. Business class seats are discounted by 22 percent starting at 549 euros one-way.
The airline attributed the cuts to lower fuel costs and increased competition on the North Atlantic corridor. Norwegian operates 12 weekly flights from Scandinavia to the two US cities using its fleet of Boeing 787 Dreamliners. The promotion adds 420,000 seats at the reduced rates.
Transatlantic traffic between Northern Europe and the United States grew 19 percent in 2025 according to IATA data. Norwegian reported an 87 percent load factor on these routes last summer and expects the discounts to push utilization above 90 percent this season.
Competitors Delta and United have matched some fares on overlapping routes but have not extended the reductions to Scandinavian departure cities. Norwegian plans to evaluate extending the sale into October depending on booking velocity.
What this means for you
Book before July 10 through the Norwegian Air website to lock in the lowest fares and select the flexible ticket option for 35 euros extra. Compare total costs including baggage because the base fare includes only a personal item. Consider mid-week departures on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for the deepest discounts.
Check passport validity early because US entry requires six months remaining validity for many nationalities. Download the airline app to receive real-time gate and schedule updates during the busy summer period.
Additional seat sales are likely in late August if inventory remains after the initial rush so monitor the airline newsletter for flash promotions.
