Lufthansa confirmed the new schedule on June 13 with flights departing Frankfurt at 10:15 p.m. and arriving Cape Town at 9:45 a.m. the next day. Return flights leave Cape Town at 11:30 p.m. and reach Frankfurt at 10:00 a.m. Fares start at €620 round-trip for economy.
The carrier will deploy its newest A350-900 on the route, featuring 48 business class seats. Load factors on existing Johannesburg flights have exceeded 85 percent this year. Cape Town tourism officials requested the service to support summer travel.
Previous nonstop service ended during the pandemic when demand collapsed. South African Airways still flies the route three times weekly. European carriers have gradually restored African connections since 2023.
