Emirates confirmed the addition of five weekly Dubai to Johannesburg A380 rotations starting August 1 2026. The superjumbo aircraft will feature 14 private suites in first class 76 lie-flat seats in business and 399 seats in economy. Flight EK763 will depart Dubai at 03:15 arriving Johannesburg at 10:25 with return EK764 leaving at 12:40.
The schedule complements existing Boeing 777 services to provide 14 weekly frequencies overall. Emirates cited strong corporate and leisure demand from South African travelers heading to Europe and Asia via its Dubai hub.
The airline previously operated A380s on the route until 2020 when capacity was reduced due to pandemic restrictions. Johannesburg airport has completed runway and terminal upgrades to handle increased widebody traffic.
What this means for you
Book business class seats early as introductory fares start at 1850 USD roundtrip for August travel. Use Emirates mobile app to select aisle access seats in economy for better comfort on the 8-hour leg. Connect onward to Europe with minimal layover times under 90 minutes.
Passengers in first class gain access to the onboard lounge and chauffeur drive service in both cities. Monitor fuel surcharges which may fluctuate with oil prices through September.
Additional frequencies could be added in 2027 if load factors exceed 85 percent as projected.
