The route operates every Friday departing Reykjavik at 15:40 and arriving Tokyo at 08:10 the next day. Return flights depart Tokyo at 11:50 arriving Reykjavik at 15:30 the same day. The schedule supports convenient connections from North America and Europe.

Introductory fares start at €890 return in economy booked before 5 June. Business class pricing begins at €2,890. The airline projects 35,000 passengers on the route in its first year.

Tokyo tourism officials expect increased Icelandic visitor numbers to reach 12,000 annually. Icelandair has partnered with Japanese travel agencies for joint marketing campaigns. The route fills a long-standing gap in North Atlantic-Asia connectivity.

Passengers benefit from Icelandair's stopover programme allowing free or low-cost layovers in Reykjavik. The carrier added Japanese-speaking cabin crew for the service. Cargo capacity supports fresh seafood exports from Iceland to Japan.

Industry analysts view the route as a strategic expansion ahead of potential 2027 daily frequencies. The service strengthens Iceland's position as a transatlantic hub. Early bookings indicate strong demand from both leisure and business segments.
