Emirates announced the new Dubai-Cape Town frequency on 27 May 2026 with flights operating every Monday, Wednesday and Friday. Departure from Dubai is at 03:15 arriving Cape Town at 10:55 local time. Return flights leave Cape Town at 13:40 and arrive Dubai at 00:55 the next day.

The airline cited strong demand from leisure travelers and trade links between the UAE and South Africa. Average one-way fares start at 420 USD in economy and 1,850 USD in business class for the launch period. Bookings opened immediately through Emirates.com and global travel agencies.

Cape Town International Airport will add extra immigration desks during peak arrival windows to handle the increased volume. Emirates will offer connecting itineraries from 40 European cities via Dubai. The carrier already operates daily flights to Johannesburg and plans further African expansion later in 2026.

Passengers receive the standard 30 kg baggage allowance in economy and 40 kg in business. The route features lie-flat seats, onboard lounge access for business class and a new South African wine selection. Codeshare partner South African Airways will sell the flights under its own flight numbers.

Travelers should allow extra time for security at Dubai International because of ongoing terminal renovations. The airline recommends arriving three hours before departure for international flights. No visa is required for South African citizens transiting Dubai for less than 48 hours.

Emirates projects the additional flights will carry 85,000 passengers annually. Tourism South Africa will launch a joint marketing campaign targeting European and Middle Eastern markets. The schedule will be reviewed after six months based on load factors.
