Booking.com activated its largest Asia-focused promotion of the year on May 18 2026. The campaign provides 30 percent off Genius member rates at participating hotels in Japan Thailand and Vietnam. More than 12,000 properties joined the sale including 4,200 in Japan alone.
Discounts apply automatically when users filter for the "Summer Escape" label on the mobile app or website. Minimum stay requirements range from two to four nights depending on the destination. Properties in Kyoto and Chiang Mai show the deepest average discounts of 34 percent.
The promotion targets shoulder season travel between July and September when temperatures remain high but crowds thin. Booking.com reported a 22 percent increase in searches for Southeast Asia within 24 hours of the announcement. Payment is required at booking with free cancellation up to 48 hours before arrival.
Participating hotels include the new Edition Tokyo and several Aman properties in Vietnam. Travelers must log into a Genius Level 2 or 3 account to unlock the full discount. New users receive an additional 10 percent off their first booking made during the sale period.
Airline partners such as Singapore Airlines and Thai Airways have matched the promotion with companion fares on select routes. Average round-trip economy fares from Europe to Bangkok dropped to 520 euros for July travel. The combined hotel and flight packages are available through Booking.com's flight-plus-hotel tool.
Industry analysts expect the sale to generate 180 million USD in additional bookings before July 15. Similar promotions in 2025 achieved 92 percent sell-through rates by the final week. Hoteliers in Phuket and Da Nang have added 15 percent more inventory to meet anticipated demand.
Users should compare Genius versus non-Genius rates before completing reservations. The discount cannot be combined with other promotions or corporate rates. Booking.com will send confirmation emails within five minutes of each successful transaction.
