Lufthansa will operate daily nonstop flights between Frankfurt and Manila starting October 12. The Airbus A350-900 will seat 266 passengers on the 12-hour route. Fares open at 599 euros one-way in economy for the first month.
Three weekly cargo flights will also run using the same aircraft type. Codeshare partners United and Air Canada will sell connections from North America. Manila airport has added two new gates to handle the extra daily arrivals.
Previous nonstop service ended in 2019 when Lufthansa withdrew the route. Demand from German business travellers to the Philippines grew 32 percent in 2025. Philippine tourism officials projected 150000 additional visitors from Europe in the first year.
What this means for you
Book the October 12 inaugural flight now for introductory pricing that ends September 30. Connect from 12 US cities via United without changing terminals in Frankfurt. Avoid the 2am arrival slot if you need ground transport as taxis charge night surcharges.
Business class passengers receive lounge access at both ends and 40kg baggage allowance. Monitor Lufthansa app for schedule changes after the first 90 days of operation.
Additional frequencies may be added in 2027 if load factors exceed 82 percent through March 2027.
