Turkey eliminates visa fees for citizens of Argentina, Brazil, Chile, Colombia, Mexico, Peru, Ecuador and Uruguay starting August 20. Eligible passport holders receive 90-day visa-free stays for tourism or business. The change applies to all entry points including Istanbul airports.
Previously these nationalities paid $60 for e-visas valid 180 days. Turkish tourism officials project 250000 additional visitors by year end.
The decision follows bilateral agreements signed in Ankara during June. Similar waivers exist for select European and Asian nations.
What this means for you
Verify passport validity of at least six months beyond your planned departure date before booking. Print the official announcement from the Turkish Ministry of Foreign Affairs website as backup documentation.
Reserve Istanbul hotels early for September arrivals to avoid price surges after the policy takes effect.
Further Latin American countries may join the waiver list in 2027.
