Brazil launches e-visa access for citizens of Angola, Kenya, Nigeria, Ghana, Ethiopia, Senegal, Tanzania, Uganda, Rwanda, Zambia, Botswana and Namibia starting August 10. Applications cost $80 and receive decisions within 48 hours via the official portal. The change applies to tourist stays up to 90 days.

Officials expect 180000 additional visitors from these nations by December 2026. Processing previously required in-person appointments at Brazilian consulates in Africa.

Background shows Brazil last expanded e-visa programs in 2024 to select Asian markets. The new rollout aligns with tourism recovery targets set by Embratur for 2027.

What this means for you

Apply online at least seven days before travel and upload a valid passport plus proof of onward ticket. Avoid third-party sites charging extra fees above the official $80 rate.

Book flights to Rio de Janeiro or Sao Paulo now for September departures to secure lower fares before seasonal increases.

Future expansions may include more African countries by early 2027 based on current approval volumes.
