Emirates confirmed daily Dubai-Rio de Janeiro flights starting August 1 2026 using Boeing 777-300ER aircraft configured with 42 business and 308 economy seats. Flight EK247 departs Dubai at 03:15 arriving Rio at 11:55 the same day. Return EK248 leaves Rio at 14:30 arriving Dubai at 14:15 the following day.
The new service replaces a previous one-stop routing via São Paulo and reduces travel time by four hours. Emirates cited strong corporate demand from Brazilian energy and agribusiness sectors plus leisure traffic to Copacabana and Iguazu Falls. Introductory fares start at $620 round-trip economy booked by July 15.
Competition on the corridor previously came from LATAM and Qatar Airways connections. Dubai International Airport added dedicated check-in counters for Brazilian passengers. The airline projects 180,000 annual passengers on the route by year two.
What this means for you
Book the inaugural August flights immediately as introductory fares are limited to 5,000 seats. Brazilian travelers should apply for UAE visa on arrival if eligible or obtain e-Visa in advance. Pack light as checked baggage allowance remains 30 kg in economy.
Connect onward to other South American cities via Rio's new Terminal 3 international pier. Avoid peak December dates when Brazilian summer holidays fill flights quickly. Download the Emirates app for real-time gate and schedule updates.
Additional frequencies may be added during Carnival 2027 based on load factors. Early booking secures both price and preferred seat selection on this long-haul route.
