Singapore Airlines confirmed the new route on June 22 with inaugural flights scheduled for October 15. The service operates Tuesdays, Thursdays, Saturdays and Sundays using 253-seat A350-900s. Introductory round-trip fares start at $1,099 in economy and $3,499 in business class.
The route fills a long-standing gap for travelers between Asia and Latin America. Current connections require at least one stop in the United States or Europe. Cargo demand for Mexican avocados and Asian electronics also factored into the decision.
Industry analysts note Singapore Airlines has expanded aggressively since 2024, adding 12 new long-haul destinations. Mexico City International Airport recently completed terminal upgrades to handle increased wide-body traffic.
Competitors including Qantas and Air New Zealand are evaluating similar Latin America extensions.
What this means for you
Book the introductory fare before July 31 to secure the lowest prices. Business class passengers receive complimentary lounge access at both ends. Allow extra time for new immigration procedures at Mexico City Terminal 2.
Pack light for the 17-hour flight; the A350 offers improved cabin humidity and larger windows. Download the airline app for real-time schedule updates during the initial months.
The route is projected to operate year-round, opening new multi-destination itineraries combining Mexico with Singapore stopovers.
