Qatar Airways confirmed the new daily Doha-Auckland service begins October 15 using Boeing 777-300ER aircraft. The flight QR821 departs Doha at 09:15 and arrives Auckland at 07:10 the next day. Return QR822 leaves Auckland at 14:25 and reaches Doha at 22:55.
Fares start at 1,050 USD round-trip in economy for October travel. Business class introductory fares are priced from 3,200 USD. The carrier cited strong demand from Gulf and European passengers seeking direct South Pacific access.
The route replaces a previous codeshare arrangement with Air New Zealand and adds 210,000 annual seats. Auckland Airport will handle the flights at the new international pier opened in 2025.
What this means for you
Book the new QR821 flight if travelling from London, Paris or Frankfurt to avoid two-stop itineraries via Australia. Check baggage allowance rules as they differ from Air New Zealand codeshares. Compare the 1,050 USD fare against existing one-stop options on Emirates and Singapore Airlines before July 31 when introductory pricing ends.
Monitor seat availability in business class as the 42-seat cabin is expected to sell out for peak December dates within weeks.
