Morocco’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs confirmed an extension of visa-free entry for European Union citizens from 30 to 90 days, effective 1 July 2026. The policy covers all 27 EU member states plus Switzerland, Norway and Iceland.
Travellers must still present a valid passport with at least six months’ validity and proof of onward travel or sufficient funds. Overstays beyond 90 days incur daily fines of 500 MAD.
The decision follows a 34 percent rebound in European arrivals during the first quarter of 2026 and is expected to boost shoulder-season bookings in Marrakech and Agadir.
What this means for you
EU travellers can now plan extended multi-city itineraries covering the Atlas Mountains and Atlantic coast without visa runs. Book internal flights or trains in advance for July–September peak domestic holiday periods.
Register with your embassy’s travel advisory service before departure in case of any sudden regional restrictions. Consider travel insurance that covers trip interruptions longer than 30 days.
Digital nomads from Europe may combine the longer stay with Morocco’s new remote-work visa launched in 2025 for seamless six-month stays.
