Lufthansa confirmed the new daily Frankfurt-Auckland flight launching October 15, 2026. Flight LH732 departs Frankfurt at 22:40 and arrives Auckland at 07:55 the following day after a 17-hour journey. Return flight LH733 leaves Auckland at 10:15 and reaches Frankfurt at 18:40.
Introductory one-way fares start at 899 euros in economy and 2,499 euros in business class through December 15. The airline projects 120,000 passengers on the route in its first year. Auckland Airport has upgraded its international terminal gates to accommodate the service.
The route fills a gap left when Air New Zealand ended its Frankfurt service in 2020. Lufthansa already operates daily flights to Sydney and Melbourne. New Zealand Tourism expects the addition to increase European visitor numbers by 18 percent.
What this means for you
Reserve seats early for October and November departures to secure the lowest introductory fares. Choose business class for the lie-flat seats on the long-haul leg. Download the Lufthansa app for real-time schedule updates during the first month of operations.
Allow extra time for Auckland immigration processing on arrival days. Book connecting flights from Frankfurt at least three hours after European feeder arrivals. Consider stopover packages in Germany if your itinerary allows flexible dates.
The new service will make New Zealand more accessible for European travelers seeking direct long-haul options.
