South Korea's Ministry of Justice announced on June 3 that Indian citizens can apply for a new e-visa from July 1. Approval takes three business days instead of the previous 10 to 15. The visa permits multiple entries and stays of up to 90 days within any 180-day period.
Applicants submit documents online including proof of accommodation and return tickets. Fees remain at KRW 60,000. The program initially runs for two years before potential permanent adoption.
Background shows Indian arrivals reached 250,000 in 2025, up 22 percent year-over-year. Tourism officials aim to attract 400,000 visitors annually by 2028. The simplified process mirrors existing systems already used for Chinese and Vietnamese travelers.
Korea Tourism Organization will launch targeted marketing campaigns in Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore. Airlines including Korean Air and Air India plan additional frequencies from July.
What this means for you
Apply online at the official Korea Visa Portal at least one week before travel. Prepare digital copies of bank statements and hotel bookings in advance. Double-check passport validity of at least six months beyond your planned departure.
Book KTX train passes and popular attractions such as Jeju Island ferries early once the visa is approved. Consider shoulder months like September and October for lower crowds and prices.
Monitor the official site for any additional document requirements that may be added during the pilot phase.
