The airline selected the Boeing 787-10 for its fuel efficiency on the 17,000-kilometer route. Business class features 48 lie-flat seats and a premium economy cabin with 40 seats. Economy offers 228 seats including a new buy-on-board menu with Australian wines.

Passengers receive 23 kg baggage allowance in economy and 32 kg in business. The flight operates with two full crews and includes a dedicated rest area for staff. British Airways has partnered with Qantas for seamless connections to domestic Australian routes.

Tickets went on sale immediately with introductory economy fares starting at £899 one-way. Business class introductory fares begin at £3,499. The airline expects strong demand from both leisure and corporate travelers.

Heathrow Terminal 5 has added extra check-in desks and security lanes for the service. Sydney Airport will operate dedicated immigration processing for British Airways arrivals. The carrier will review load factors after three months and may increase frequency.

Travelers should note that the flight crosses multiple time zones and arrives the following calendar day. Jet lag mitigation tips are provided in the in-flight magazine. The route positions British Airways as the only European carrier offering daily nonstop service to Australia.
