Brazil's Ministry of Tourism announced on May 27 that South Korean citizens can continue entering without visas through December 31, 2027. The extension maintains the existing 90-day stay limit and allows multiple entries within any 180-day period. Officials cited a 35 percent rise in Korean visitors last year as a key factor.
The decision aligns with Brazil's broader strategy to boost inbound tourism from Asia. South Korea ranks among the top 15 source markets for Brazilian tourism, with over 180,000 arrivals recorded in 2025. Trade delegations also benefit from simplified travel for short-term business meetings.
Travelers must still present a valid passport with at least six months validity and proof of onward travel. Overstays will incur fines starting at 200 Brazilian reais per day. Immigration officers at major airports including Sรฃo Paulo and Rio de Janeiro have received updated processing guidelines.
Industry analysts expect the extension to increase leisure bookings by 22 percent this summer. Korean tour operators have already added new packages featuring the Amazon and Pantanal regions. Business travelers report faster approval for conference attendance.
Similar visa waivers remain in place for citizens of Japan, Australia, and the United States. Brazil plans to review additional Asian markets for comparable extensions later this year. The policy does not affect customs or health screening procedures.
Airlines operating direct routes from Seoul to Sรฃo Paulo have welcomed the news. Korean Air and LATAM have scheduled extra flights for the peak December period. Passengers are advised to confirm entry requirements via official government portals before departure.
