Qatar Airways announced on May 19, 2026, the launch of three weekly flights between Doha’s Hamad International Airport and Port Sudan International Airport starting July 2. Flights operate Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays with QR1319 departing Doha at 09:00 and arriving at 11:00 local time.

The new service expands Qatar Airways’ African network to 25 destinations and restores direct links after a three-year gap. Passengers from Oman, Pakistan and Southeast Asia can connect seamlessly through Doha.

One-way fares start from approximately $250 in economy, with business class options available. The route supports tourism recovery in Sudan and business travel to the Red Sea region.

Travellers should book early as initial capacity is limited to three flights per week. Sudan entry requires a valid visa for most nationalities, obtainable on arrival or in advance.

The airline also increased frequencies to Cape Town, Maputo and Durban while resuming services to Seychelles and Kigali in June 2026.

Airport authorities in Port Sudan have upgraded facilities to handle the new international traffic. Ground handling and security meet international standards.

This expansion signals growing confidence in African aviation recovery post-pandemic and regional conflicts.
