Lufthansa confirmed on 8 May 2026 that it will launch five weekly nonstop flights between Frankfurt and Kuala Lumpur International Airport from 15 June. The route will be operated with Airbus A350-900 aircraft configured in three classes.
The new service adds to existing Lufthansa routes to Bangkok, Singapore and Phuket, giving German travellers direct access to Malaysia’s capital without connections through the Middle East. Flight time is approximately 12 hours and 40 minutes.
Bookings opened immediately with introductory fares starting at €599 return in economy. Business class introductory rates begin at €2,199. The airline expects strong leisure and corporate demand from the Rhine-Main region.
Malaysia Airlines will codeshare on the flights, offering seamless connections to domestic Malaysian destinations and onward travel to Australia. Passengers will earn miles in both Lufthansa Miles & More and Malaysia Airlines Enrich programmes.
The route launch follows a 20 percent increase in bookings from Europe to Southeast Asia in the first quarter of 2026. Lufthansa cited stable fuel prices and improved load factors as key factors in the decision.
Travellers are advised to book early for peak summer dates as the carrier anticipates high demand from both German and Malaysian holidaymakers. The service will operate on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays.
Airport authorities in Kuala Lumpur have prepared dedicated check-in counters and fast-track immigration lanes for the new Lufthansa flights to ensure smooth operations from day one.
