The official currency of Cambodia is the Cambodian Riel (KHR). However, the US Dollar (USD) is widely used, especially in cities and tourist areas.
Riel banknotes are available in denominations of 50, 100, 500, 1000, 2000, 5000, 10,000, 20,000, 50,000, and 100,000 KHR. US Dollar notes are also commonly used, but coins are rarely in circulation.

Credit and debit cards are accepted in hotels, restaurants, and shops in urban areas, but cash is still preferred, especially in rural areas. It’s advisable to carry small change in both KHR and USD.
